ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Brenda Bruce and Pamela Nelson have collaborated for more than twenty-five years, when they met playing in the NC Symphony.

Brenda Bruce, pianist and harpsichordist, is an active recitalist and chamber musician in both the U.S. and Europe. She appeared as a soloist with the NC Symphony in a performance of Bach's Brandenberg Concerto No. 5 with Pinchas and Eugenia Zuckerman and has presented several recitals sponsored by the Alliance Francaise, including two all Chopin and an all French program. Ms. Bruce played an integral role in obtaining the donation of the Steinway Concert Grand from the Rhone-Poulenc Company to the NC Museum of Art. She is the recipient of an Artists Grant from the Raleigh Arts Commission and two Regional Artists Grants from the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County. She recently participated in master classes held at Pro Musica Conservatory in St. Malo, France. She is listed in the NC Touring Artists Directory and is in Who's Who of American Women and Musicians. Ms. Bruce maintains a lively private studio in Cary.

Pamela Nelson, a native of Louisiana, received her B.M. in Education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and her Masters in Flute Performance from the NC School of the Arts. While in St. Louis, she studied with Jacob Berg and Jan Gippo of the St. Louis Symphony. In the Triangle, Ms. Nelson has appeared with the NC Bach Festival, the Triangle Opera, as principal flute in the Opera Company of North Carolina Orchestra, and with the NC Symphony. She has also played in orchestras for the NC Theatre and the Best of Broadway shows and is a founding member of several chamber groups in the Triangle. For many years, Ms. Nelson was Professor of Flute at Meredith College.

The reception following the concert is sponsored by the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild.
